Reminds me of when I was listening to AnCap Doug Casey tell us, maybe 250 attendees at a Libertopia, that the problem with libertarians is that we don't earn or have enough money to forward the movement and beat the statists.

I had been guilty of confirmation bias but after thinking about it, he was absolutely right.

We were too few to begin with, and were not even close to being united in what our future should look like. Even supporting bitcoin caused further division among the sparse libertarian community -- not from just the gold bugs either.

A lot of parallels exist in the Bitcoin movement today.

Take the catalyst for the BIP-110 fork, for example. To even the majority of people who claim to support Bitcoin, this op_return size and relay policy change was no big deal, if they even knew anything about it.

To the few of us who believe it was a big deal, we essentially simply don't earn or have enough money (and clout) to have prevented this situation we find ourselves in, today.
