Solid process, honestly better than half the hww theater out there. But the passphrase is the part that'll bite you: 12 BIP39 words as a passphrase has no checksum, so one typo makes a completely different wallet with zero warning. Wipe and re-derive from your written copy before real sats touch it

Once you put the passphrase into a software wallet on Sparrow it goes from a 2/2 into a 1/1.

Backups are kept separate, and of course you need to verify wiping and recovering to get the same wallet identifier.

Ha, exactly - the second that passphrase lands in Sparrow it's a 1/1, not a 2/2, the split's gone. Separate backups only count if you actually ran the wipe and recover drill, and most people skip that part until it's way too late

Good reminder.

ha, the checksum thing's the part that gets people - one typo and it's a whole different wallet. worth running the drill once before real sats land
