We kick off the new season with a special surprise: Thomas Voegtlin, the creator of the legendary Electrum wallet, is coming to Barcelona for the first time.

Launched in 2011, Electrum quickly became a favorite for Bitcoiners who wanted a lightweight yet reliable wallet to store and transact with Bitcoin. Over the years, it has remained one of the most respected projects in the ecosystem, continuously evolving with new features and integrations.

At this meetup, Thomas will share the story of Electrum’s early days and how it has grown over the years. He will dive into:

• Electrum’s design choices: custom seed formats, multisig, PSBT support, hardware wallet compatibility, and ongoing Lightning integration.
• The Electrum plugin system: how it extends Electrum’s functionality and how developers and users can take advantage of it.
• Electrum Nostr integration:
  - New python package: electrum-aionostr
  - Submarine swaps over Nostr (trustless swaps without HTTP endpoints)
  - Ephemeral Nostr keys for clients and persistent identities for providers.
  - The Nostr Cosigner plugin for multisig workflows with PSBTs.
  - A proposal to mitigate spam on Nostr by notarizing all posts.
