I went down the mining rabbit hole this week.
First, I built a small CPU solo lottery miner and connected it to a public pool. Seeing the first accepted share was genuinely exciting. Then the program calculated my estimated time to find a block: about 8.6 billion years. That brought me back to Earth pretty quickly. :)
I also tried XMRig with NiceHash. It worked, but the estimated income was around €0.16 per day before electricity costs. So I’ve accepted that an ordinary laptop is not going to become a money printer.
I’m a Windows tool builder from Türkiye, currently working on MarginPilot, a profit calculator for online sellers. I’d still like to earn my first meaningful sats by creating something useful rather than buying them or gambling on mining.
If you were starting today with an ordinary laptop, no ASIC and no existing audience, what honest service or small digital product would you build to earn your first 10,000 sats?
I’m not looking for faucets, referral schemes or cloud mining. I’m genuinely interested in what has worked for people here.
You can earn 10 kilosats pretty quickly by writing about your interests and bitcoin adventures here.
Stacker News is probably where I made my first 10k.
That’s encouraging thank you!
I actually received my first 25 real sats in my Blink wallet from this post. So writing about the experiment has already earned me more meaningful bitcoin than the mining experiment itself. 😄
I’ll keep sharing what I build and learn along the way. Reaching the first 10k sats here now feels far more realistic than waiting 8.6 billion years for a block.
