At the last visit to China, Trump said the following:

Together, we have the chance to draw these values to create a future of greater prosperity, cooperation, and happiness, and peace for our children. We love our children.

Not peace for us. Peace for our children. This was a reference to Thomas Paine:

“I prefer peace. But if trouble must come, let it come in my time, so that my children can live in peace.”

I find it interesting that the leftist press is so confident in denouncing Trump as the dumbest and most evil man in history while simultaneously overlooking not only the most consequential aspect of his presidency, but also the geopolitical reality of the United States as a country, even after he's hinted at it multiple times. The flippancy is akin to the way in which Americans talk about North Korea, yet this is the country in which they live and they're completely engrossed in the subject of politics. And it seems that in this case they're not being deliberately obtuse. Perhaps they genuinely don't understand what it means to recommence 1776.

I realize now what their problem is. Thinking is a solitary activity. Even something like learning a language, which is largely a matter of copying what other people are saying, requires active effort. Even when you're being taught something, you the individual have to exert your free will to make the choice to focus and listen actively.

We're in a competition with people who are simply not thinking. They have never sat down alone and studied a map of the United States or the world and put in the effort of understanding it for themselves without submission to someone else's commentary.

Ignoring the necessity of individual work, even to the point of denigrating it, is the moral rot at the core of politics and many other industries. But it is individual work that can rescue them, and the joy of the accomplishment will belong to you alone.
