I used to listen the same from my mom a lot while I wasn’t married.
I think it all comes down to the personal preferences of yours when/what to follow and what not to. But if I had to choose between my home and away - I would choose home without a doubt but I would do it for the love for my family - for my dad and mom and my siblings - and ignore what others think about me and my ways. I had to be away for making money and I remember that I was like 17 working very hard and in the evening cooking for myself . However these are common here in India that many people waste their youth earning money away from home, I’d lovingly marry early and have children if I had the money when I was younger.
