I have to be honest, this vote wasn't nearly as close as I thought it was going to be. Iceland is known to be absolute in its belief in self-governance, and that would have run counter to being part of the EU. The other huge sticking point would have been its marine products and how much the fishing industry still means to the country.

Broadcaster RUV reported that 52.8% of voters rejected the government’s push to reopen EU membership negotiations, while 47.2% voted in favor.

Does CNBC know that Greenland and Iceland are different places?

Also, it should really be called “the Greenland offer”.
