Came to an idea today after a discussion about a feral pregnant cat with my animal rehabilitator wife, that so many places put down perfectly healthy animals because it's simply less expensive to kill it.
This phrase hit me after I said it, hard, that it applies to nearly everything in the rapidly deteriorating system. "There's no funding". Even younger me understood raise the minimum wage means higher costs. It's a ratio. Everything has cost.
I've kept a dog longer than was rational to their comfort, rather than put it down. Because the cost was too great to me. Selfishly.
I dunno. This is a half thought. It's cheaper to kill a perfectly healthy cat. It's cheaper to kill the meek. That's what the current system of devasement entails.
I need a place to put my tulips. I've been devased.
