Your dreams have whatever meanings you put on them.

Most people don't realize that we dream several times every night, and we don't remember most of them. When we do remember, it's because something jogged that memory. That's why people seem to have precog dreams: seeing something that reminds you of a dream reminds you of that dream. Eventually, you get one that kind of lines up with what happens the next day.

Since they emerge from our own minds (probably), they presumably have some meaning based on our experiences of the world.

I doubt that meaning is easy to interpret, though, and suspect most dream interpretation is more like Tarot or astrology.

dreams are thots & visuals that one can recognize within the framework of the conscious brain; the conscious "layer" communicates with the logical & the abstract parts of the brain for the final synthesis;

initially, the information about the surroundings is being gathered thru the senses, consolidated in the subconscious layer, and then transmitted in form of daytime ideas or nigh-time dream-visuals, or ideas within dream-visuals; the more accurate information one collects, the more useful are the dreams; polluting the consciousness with AI slop for example will result in useless dreams... or extreme dreams (consider how some people are highly impressionable & avoid watching horror movies before sleep);

decalcify the pineal gland and the dreams will return & be more vivid;

I don't know if my dreams have any meaning extending beyond into the physical world. But my wife's dreams definitely can.
Whenever I did something in her dreams that ticked her off, I got smacked the next morning.

That depends on the culture of the country you live in. Dreams have many meanings; the problem is deciphering them correctly. Your mood also influences what you dream!

I believe they do, or can. I usually don’t remember my dreams, but I have occasionally. And when I do, I can usually point to where they originated, and it tells me that the subject is on my mind consistently
