I still can't believe it; this is a lot like the case of that teacher from France (I think it was France) who was arrested for not using gender-neutral pronouns. What rubbish.

to be fair, it's not as bad as you think
there is a Disability Office that must check their status and approve their accommodations... but then they tell us what the accommodations are and we are not allowed to ask why.
So there is some checking, but of course a lot of abuse still probably does happen.
