Being flexible and adaptable is key!

Unfortunately, it's been too long since we had kids that I forgot which books we relied on. Something like "What to Expect When You're Expecting".

In terms of parenting I think there was a book called "Shepherding a Child's Heart" that was good.

I think it's reasonable to be suspicious of the medical system and prefer natural approaches, but that doesn't mean we need to be upset when we're forced into the medical system. Most doctors still mean well, it's just that the incentive structures are a little scuffed. Kinda like I told my wife during COVID, "I'm don't want our kids to get the vaccine, but I'm not really afraid if they do either"
