The issue is, you can't really grow enough food for everyone without using those harsh methods. Or can you?

I’m not sure. The vast majority of farmland in the US is used to produce animal feed. Without GMOs and synthetic chemicals, they couldn’t produce as much factory farmed meat.
If consumers were eating mostly beans and greens, it might be possible to produce enough organically.
So, basically, “maybe, but only if people radically change their diets.”

Haha! I need to slow down.
I guess what I was thinking is that it’s weird to say that these other measures of pollution are inconclusive, when we’ve already established that one system destroys the natural ecology compared to the other.
