JPMorgan downgraded MARA (NASDAQ: MARA) to Underweight from Neutral on Monday, cutting its price target to $11 from $13. Analyst Reginald Smith set the new target for December 2027, replacing the bank’s previous December 2026 target.
MARA shares were quoted at $11.65 on Monday, putting JPMorgan’s target about 5.6% below the stock price. The shares closed the prior session at $11.98.
JPMorgan cited MARA’s capital-light AI/HPC strategy as a reason for the downgrade, which contributes powered sites to a joint venture with Starwood Digital Ventures rather than building and operating data centers independently. The bank prefers operators that control tenant contracting, financing, development and long-term operations.
