Why should I think the financial doomers are any different?

I like listening to these things occasionally to at least think about why they might be wrong.

What happens when the Social Security trust fund empties? Do they let the recipients take a haircut or does Congress actually change the program to make it even more expensive?

If interest and non-discretionary spending are greater than tax receipts (which max out around 20% of GDP), how do they afford their obligations?
