Will Michael Carrick Be Sacked in October?

The question surrounding Manchester United right now is simple: Will Michael Carrick still be in charge when October arrives?

Carrick began the 2026/27 Premier League season under significant expectations after guiding United to third place and Champions League qualification during his successful interim spell. The club subsequently handed him a permanent contract through 2028.

However, the opening weeks of the new campaign have created pressure.

United collected just four points from their first four Premier League matches, including defeats to Hull City and Manchester City, alongside a draw with Everton. The 1–0 Manchester derby defeat was particularly frustrating, with United unable to take advantage of City's numerical disadvantage for much of the match.

That has naturally led to questions about Carrick's position.

There is, however, an important counterpoint: reports on September 15 said Manchester United had no plans to sack Carrick at that stage, with the club still backing him despite the difficult start.

So, could October become a decisive month?

The upcoming fixtures, results, performances and the team's ability to respond to pressure could all influence the conversation. For now, talk of an October departure remains speculation rather than a confirmed club decision.

One thing is certain: the pressure is building, and every result matters.

Could Michael Carrick turn things around before the situation becomes a serious managerial crisis?

It’s always the same story: they want immediate results. And they don’t let any manager build a great team or put together a serious, long-term project. As long as they keep changing the manager twice a year, they’ll never win anything again.

History repeat it self and truth is we never learn anything from the past history

The most incredible thing is that they have recent examples (Arsenal v Man City) of how to do things right, and how to build a proper team – a team that can win – but they don’t follow the formula. They had the greatest player of all time (CR7) at their disposal once again, and what did they do? They just wasted their time.
