Hmm only if you have a tendency to destroy it? Maintaining integrity isn't really something that takes effort, unless you're faking it.

reply

I mean as in don't do anything to destroy it, a mistake can ruin years of effort.

reply

If that takes effort, you're probably faking it too, lol. (mistakes don't ruin integrity)

Effort to think about doing what's right vs. what's wrong. making the right decision, especially long term takes effort.

Also, in this post, I want to talk about something tangible, product-wise.

If thinking is effort, then what you're really asking is: how can I for all intents and purposes die and still make money. And the answer to that is: capture the legal system and get royalties.

reply

This is not what I am asking. I am trying to say the people/marketers who put this idea out there"create once and sell" is making up a lie that you don't need to do the ongoing work.

I understand your point about the evergreen "do this and you make 20 grand passive income per month" internet marketing scammers that sell you their vid for $80 and then you still know nothing. The very act of having to make a new vids every week proves that the passive income scam is a lie.

But I also misunderstand your problem with either "selling your own integrity" as something you can sell twice (but not passively), or "receiving royalties from your patent/music/artwork/book" as a fully automated means of income.

yup.

What I understand about integrity is that once people know you're honest and make good products, they'll keep coming back. Also, I don't really believe that's actually passive income; it's really a matter of upfront work with low-maintenance work. Yet the internet is full of scams like that; I think once a person "retires" or loses the drive to do something, they easily die.
