I think both should be evaluated separately. If you want to build reputation and trust then using your name or main identity can help a lot. People know who is behind the project and that can make growth easier. But if security and privacy are more important then staying anonymous also makes sense. In the end you can either build a name in the same space or keep that separation to protect yourself. I do not think one choice fits every project.
