I don't log in often, and when I do the notification list is extensive, need to click on "more" to keep scrolling. I probably miss mentions and other relevant notifications. A filter by type (mentions/zaps/new post/new comment/etc.) would help.
I turned off zap notifications, which reduced the volume quite a bit.
Did exactly the same.
