IMO, You can be anon and build a reputation around that identity. I always teach ppl to use distinct identities depending on what they are doing.
Most of people link their real identities because of ego. But we are going to a mass surveillance state in a very fast pace. If you try to build anything around empowering people with privacy, sovereignty, freedom, they will find a way to cancel you (sometimes physically). So, there is no point of doing any kind of contribution in those fields using your real identity.
