When we try to explain Bitcoin to "normies", we often use gold as an analogy.

But I think there is one step before that. First, people need to understand why gold has value and why it can be considered real money.

You need to explain the fiat money system first. Gold cannot simply be created out of nothing. Nobody can decide to increase the supply whenever they want. Producing gold also requires real work and energy.

Gold is also a noble metal, so it does not easily react with other elements or decay in nature.

Once a "normie" understands why gold is hard money, I think it becomes easier to explain Bitcoin.

Bitcoin has some advantages over gold. It is much easier to transfer, its supply is mathematically limited, and maybe most importantly, it is easy to verify that you really have Bitcoin. With physical gold, verifying that it is real can be much harder.

I know most people here already know all of this. My point is something different.

If someone first understands why gold is valuable as hard money, they may be more willing to give Bitcoin a chance.

So instead of being a "toxic Bitcoin maxi", maybe it makes more sense to be a hard-money maxi.

What do you think?
