Wow. Saw this today:

The world is healing

no bigotted hitting on various sexualities, but as far as I can seriously tell they're (mostly) not a real phenomenon; some 200 pages of Carl Trueman's The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self convinced me of that. (A stacker recommended it to me ages ago...thank you kindly for making me even less welcome in woke/green/establishment Nordic crowds)

And self-identifying as whatever-the-fuck rising and falling that massively in a short period of time clearly suggests it was always mostly a social contagion phenomenon... a hip thing to "be" for a while, not a permanent or unalterable or magically religious state of human being finally unleashed from bigotted social norms.

Oh lord, will the wokeys come for me for this!

Jean Twenge has been on this hunt for forever:

Some of the samples in the “free fall” report were from high school students and entering college students. Now that 2025 data from the Youth Risk Survey of U.S. 9th to 12th graders from the CDC has been released, we can get a much better idea of how sexual orientation has changed among youth. The trends are striking.

This graph really is astonishing...

9th-graders are back to where they were pre-rona. Cohort or period effect?

The decline appears to be driven almost entirely by girls. Identifying as LGB dropped from 27% in 2023 to 22% in 2025 among girls and from 9% to 7% among boys.

It's not that big of a fall, I guess, especially when we went +128% from 2015-2021.

Now, one complicating matter is this:

"Much of the change in LGB identification among girls is a drop in identifying as bisexual."

That was always a bit of a woke opt-in/signaling meme that the real gays always laughed at: Bi now, gay later. Guess you're not getting social kudos for "bi" anymore?

Another problem is whether all of this is just cheap tawk

...but even that is cheap tawk: it's a survey! (and we know how that goes #1576094, #1575536)

although the changes in behavior differ somewhat from the trends in identifying as LGB, they also suggest that high school girls, especially younger girls, are no longer as likely to have same-sex partners
...the pattern appears to be little change among those 17 and older, but notable declines among those 16 and younger, especially 15 and under.

= GENERATIONAL/COHORT effect.

"What happened during this time that impacted 9th grade girls the most, especially their LGB identification and behavior?"

I have to confess: I have no idea. I'd love to hear yours."

Nice enough a humble ending. The world gotta start healing somewhere??

Why so homophobic?

reply

It's not.

The bigger surge among girls matches the trend for political polarization, so maybe women will start being a little less politically unhinged too.

(Now who’s going to be in trouble?)

Good good good.

wokies, go after Undisc — not me!!

The evidence has been pretty compelling that transgenderism was primarily a social, not a biological or environmental phenomenon.

THis is just another nail in the coffin.
