Does it matter if they actually have empathy or they can look like they have empathy?

I think they need to actually have empathy somehow. Sociopaths can look like they have empathy and that doesn't seem to help their victims.

Is that an unprovable requirement then? Chinese Room Paradox? (I got paradoxes on my brain)

If we can't prove that a human has actual empathy, then I would agree that it's an unprovable requirement.

Even if something is unprovable we can still strive for it, hoping it's true absent proof.

ignore Simple stacker because he lives in an academic bubble, he is completely divorced from the real world

after all, I had to remind him that murder has no statute of limitations, which is disturbing because he places so little value on life and academics are more clueless than I thought which was a low bar to begin with and he couldn't meet my bare low threshold
