The economy is hard on everyone, these days. Even London investment bankers gotta dodge the transit tickets:

Look, I don't quite get the logic here -- and talk about picking up pennies before steamrollers

You buy two short tickets at the end of the stations so that the machines don't stop you, which combined saves you about £2-5/a day or something instead of the full journey. (I think?)

Dude owns a £2m home (probably/hopefully with some juicy mortgage currency short) and Grok estimates his salary to have been £500k-£1,000k (=£41k-82k per month). Those savings are rounding errors in his finances.

You're telling me a millionaire investment banker making six figures dodges underground fares for a hundred quid a month?!

This makes no sense. If that's how he approaches his personal finances, maybe just short everything that guy has ever touched?? S-T-E-A-M-R-O-L-L-E-R!

The FCA’s lifetime ban for Molloy, who evaded £5,911 of fares, underlines the watchdog’s determination to crack down on examples of unethical conduct or dishonesty in the City of London. Last month, it broadened its powers to tackle more types of non-financial misconduct such as harassment and bullying.

Beautiful. I wanna see him pick up trash at the stations:

Molloy, who previously worked at State Street and Legal & General, was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court to 10 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months. He was prohibited from travelling on Southeastern rail for 12 months and ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation activity days. He was also ordered to pay £5,000 in compensation to Southeastern, costs of £150 and a victim surcharge of £187.
