Anyone else find it interesting we are forming a community — even, I suppose, an entire civilization — around "proof-of-work," at the exact moment that Fiat-world is rushing to obviate themselves, automate even their useful skills, and consent to being use-less?
It looks like we're introducing and cementing work, conceptually and physically, while the world outside our echo chamber wants the energy without the grind. And here we are like an antithesis, saying, "No energy without toil."
There's certainly a "Bitcoin counterculture," but then there's that 👆 . Some might accuse us of being reactionaries when we talk about mainstream culture, but what I just mentioned isn't a reaction to anything, it's philosophically baked into the Bitcoin cake since 2008, as though it's integral to replacing artificial Fiat, that artificial Fiat can only be replaced with real work.
None of this was on the horizon in 2008, at least not on a surface level, so it's curious to me how these two initially divergent timelines have aligned now. You would think it's all pre-planned by how neatly things line up.
Thoughts? These are early random and undeveloped thoughts twirling in my head this past week, so if I'm thinking nonsense, let me know. Feedback / insights appreciated, as always 💡
