I don't think you have to go to the gym to stay healthy but I find I am more likely to get off my butt and go to the gym than I am to get off my butt and work out at home.

Love a good hot and steamy gym session.

I've heard this from others. Why is that? My friend said it's because the gym has nice fresh towels... they pay something like $200/month for Equinox. I just cannot fathom it. But I'm a total sloth so

reply

Equinox, damn, you have rich friends

is the the Equinox in Century City?

reply

No, this is someone I know from childhood who works in washington DC now

I don't know anyone using Equinox in LA, though some probably do, I just don't know about it.

reply

you need to find new friends in LA

edit: what's the point of having friends in LA if they are not rich? I have had to terminate relationships in LA because they have less money than me

reply

$200 a month US is crazy. We are paying like $130 Canadian for the family of four at the YMCA. Some people just need to be fancy.

I found this great place that gives kids boxing lessons. I was going to sign my daughter up. It's only $80 a month and they have an all girls class of kids her age.

reply

Of course it's crazy, it's fucking LA and DC

edit: a neighbor asked me do you like living in your building? my response was I like the building but I hate LA

They nodded their heads, we understand

reply

I don't know. I used to work out at home 6 days a week during the all the Covid bullshit but then after we moved out of the city and I sold my business I was only doing 3-4 days a week and the last couple of years that got pretty inconsistent as well. Since we joined the YMCA in June I have been going to gym at least 4 days a week and usually more. I think going somewhere makes it part of your routine. You plan it into your schedule whereas when you are at home you think "ah I can work out later or tomorrow"

reply

I'm the opposite. Treadmill in the garage, I watch junk youtube while exercising on it, on an old junk laptop.
