what happens when people stare back at you? do you strike a conversation?
I usually smile and say hi. Occasionally, there’s some chit chat but most of the time people are just even more timid than I am and just smile in good faith and that’s it.
Sometimes, they just seem uncomfortable I'm not scrolling like them. It seems doing nothing in public while waiting is frowned upon now.
Nobody cares. It’s just in your head. We often think we’re a main character in other people’s lives too. We’re not. But the ego believes that.
You could start clapping, doing push-ups or let out a short scream in the waiting room, and the NPCs would probably just raise their head for some seconds, look at you judgingly, and then immerse themselves back in TikTok reels again.
One of the best things in life is when you catch a baby staring at you (they always do that!), and you stare back at giving a smile. Always makes my day!
I don't mind as much as I used to. I like staring at people in waiting rooms, they are usually uncomfortable I do that hahaha but most of the time they are uncomfortable on their own and they just start scrolling or texting on their phones. Sometimes, they just seem uncomfortable I'm not scrolling like them. It seems doing nothing in public while waiting is frowned upon now.
