I didn't realize diesel was so distinct from gasoline that we'd experience a shortage of one and not the other. Or is this a symptom of how specialized and codependent our supply chains are?
According to wikipedia, you tend to start with crude oil, then get both gasoline and diesel when refining the crude, so you can't trivially go from one to the other.
On average, U.S. petroleum refineries produce about 19 to 20 gallons of gasoline, 11 to 13 gallons of distillate fuel diesel fuel and 3 to 4 gallons of jet fuel from each 42 U.S. gallons (160 liters) barrel of crude oil. The product ratio depends upon the processing in an oil refinery and the crude oil assay.
This crisis implies that we've outsourced a lot of refining.
China leads the world in producing PVs and EVs and low cost electricity for its consumers and producers. Trumps subservience to the Zionist war criminals who own him is alienating the world and the world is moving toward renewables via Chinas renewable energy technology. The Petrodollar empire owned and directed by Zionist war criminals is headed for collapse. About time.
Lot of diesel is made in Russia... which is "convenient", since we all need to move to electricity...
