Building a Home for Bitcoin Founders in Guadalajara 🇲🇽⚡

When we started PlebLab in Austin back in 2021, we had a pretty simple idea. Bring Bitcoin developers, founders, and builders together under one roof and see what happens.

Five years later, I've seen firsthand what can happen when you give ambitious people a place to work, collaborate, and build companies, projects together.

Story time...

Over the past few years, Chris Guida, Laura Meza, and the Bitcoin community in Guadalajara have been putting in the work. Organizing meetups, bringing developers together, and growing a community of Bitcoiners who genuinely want to build things.

This past August, we had the opportunity to bring Hackalajara 2.0 and PlebLab Startup Day to Guadalajara. Getting to meet so many Bitcoin founders and developers working on actual products reminded me a lot of the early days of PlebLab in Austin, I came back to Austin energized and bullish on that group down there.

There's real talent in Mexico, and I think we're only scratching the surface of what these individuals can accomplish.

But builders and founders need more than conferences and occasional meetups. They need a place to work, meet other builders, find collaborators, and turn their ideas into working products for their community.

That's what Laura is trying to help make possible with PlebLab Guadalajara, building on the work this community has already started.

I've always believed that some of the best Bitcoin companies, projects will come from communities like this. People showing up every day, solving problems, and building things because they believe in what they're doing and the people around them.

If we can help more Bitcoin founders get their start in Guadalajara, I think that's something worth supporting.

The group down there is raising funds through Geyser to help make this happen. If you've ever spent time at PlebLab or another Bitcoin hackerspace, you know how much these places can mean to the people building there.

Consider throwing some sats toward helping the next generation of Bitcoin founders in Mexico.

Much love to Chris, Laura, and everyone in Guadalajara who continues to put in the work, and thanks to @metamick and the team @Geyser for all the help they've given Laura and the GDL community to setting this up.

All the best,
