There are some misconceptions about who a Christian is. Some people believe that attending church regularly is what defines them as Christians. Another school of thought views Christianity merely as a religious identity. Both perspectives are misconceptions.
I will give three definitions of who a Christian is.
The first definition: A Christian is someone who follows Jesus Christ and puts their faith in Him.
The second definition: A Christian is someone who has been spiritually transformed and has placed their faith in Jesus Christ.
The third definition: This definition best captures the true meaning of being a Christian. The word Christian was first used in the New Testament to describe the disciples and followers of Jesus in Antioch (Acts 11:26), because they were recognised as people who followed Christ.
A Christian is someone who follows Jesus Christ and practises the principles of Ekklesia—the community of believers called to follow Him. Therefore, being a Christian is more than simply attending a church building. It is about following Christ, living according to His teachings, and being part of a community of believers.
In your own opinion, who do you think a Christian is?
Anybody who believes the historical fact of Christ's resurrection, and who puts all their hope in Christ for their individual salvation. Believing the Apostles' Creed to be a statement of literal, historical facts. Believing the gospel to be good news because it promises eternal life to those who believe regardless of one's merit or worthiness (or lack thereof). To feel nothing but gratitude towards the Lord and his loving mercy.
Can a Christian support the Israeli genocide of Palestinians?
Let me start by saying this: the Old Testament contains many flaws. Why? Because it is largely based on laws rather than the Word of God that strengthens faith and brings salvation. Laws alone cannot produce the desired results; instead, they can create more problems.
Even in the New Testament, Jesus said that He did not come to destroy the Law but to fulfil it and set things right.
So, my friend, to answer your question, a true Christian is not supposed to support that. Many people call themselves Christians, but they may be surprised on Judgment Day.
a christian is someone who has faith, but that applies to any religious people. so, faith. what is faith?
Have fun staying blind.
This is a good response. Your conclusion sum everything up. Thank you.
Fourth definition: anyone who would not receive another baptism if they converted to Catholicism. This includes most protestants and orthodox.
Thank you for your contribution.
