Just read this article about the new US-Japan missile factory and there are two quotes that are a masterclass in cynicism.

U.S. and Japan agree to establish missile-production facility

part of a broader effort to strengthen the alliance's defense industrial base and diversify the missile's supply chain.

The only thing these people are doing is making sure the death business has a diversified assembly line. Calling a factory that produces AIM-120s (air-to-air missiles designed to kill people) a "defense industrial base" is pure corporate marketing, and "diversifying the supply chain" is the exact same logic McDonald's uses to make sure it doesn't run out of burgers, there is no "defense" here, just subcontracted war logistics.

Japan continues to shift away from its post-war pacifist defense posture, a trend that has drawn criticism from China, which accused Tokyo of using security cooperation to 'target or harm the interests of other countries'.

Japan's "pacifist posture" was a post-war slogan, now the Japanese state has decided the arms business is too lucrative to leave to the Americans alone, and China's reaction is peak hypocrisy: a regime doing exactly the same thing (expanding its own military-industrial complex) criticizing Japan for doing the same. It's a schoolyard fight, but with nuclear warheads.

I always say that the state and capital aren't enemies, they're partners, carving up contracts and selling us war as "security". No boss, no ballot, no bank, and definitely no more missile factories.
