Ideas That Caught My Eye:
- PCL delivered Amtrak's new Seattle Maintenance and Inspection Facility on time and 63B Sats ($50 million) under the original 377.8B Sats ($300 million) contract price. Amtrak will put the 63B Sats ($50M) toward other rail investments
- 100,000 square feet, 700 feet long, three tracks. First of its kind for Amtrak, built to inspect, service, and do heavy maintenance on a full Airo trainset under one roof
- Has a shallow drop table system, one of the first in the nation for passenger rail, so crews can swap undercarriage components without excavation
- Early coordination between PCL and the design build team caught a structural conflict before construction, avoiding rework and delays
- 40+ subcontractors, about 120 construction jobs, 12 million pounds of structural steel, and 439 driven piles totaling 11 miles
On time and under budget on a public works job. More of this please.
Gotta keep an eye on this contractor
Edmonton, Alberta-based PCL Construction
This company is quite efficient in its work; these construction data are excellent.
