The fact that it's the domestic government of Israel, which controls Palestine, seems like more of a point in our favor. A strong state oppresses the people within its jurisdiction more than it protects them from foreign threats.
Yes states can oppress the people of other states if the people of the other state (Palestine) do not have a sufficiently strong state...especially where Israel is strongly supported by the world super power USA.
The Palestinians have had their government and rights subjugated for ever 70 years by Israel with Israel having the support of first Britain and then the US.
State power matters hugely in your and everyones personal wealth and security.
Anyone who disagrees with this truth should be sent directly to Gaza to realise the foolishness of Libertarian ideology!
Palestine doesn't have an independent state. Israel holds the monopoly on violence over that territory, which makes this an extreme case of domestic oppression, not a case of foreign conquest. The conquest happened 60 years ago.
Palestine was cut up by the British to create Israel and that division has been continued by the US.
Israel is occupying territory it has no sovereign claim to- it is an occupying force, backed by the USA.
For hundreds of years the national boundaries of the Africa and middle east have been drawn up in the capitals of Europe and the US...mostly to facilitate resource hegemony.
But state power doesn't matter???
But state power doesn't matter???
Nobody said that. You're setting up strawmen because you can't follow the deeper conversation.
You are the one failing to refute and instead attempting to gaslight.
Nobody directly asserted that in this thread but they dont have to because Libertarian ideology discounts the importance of the state in economic functioning and promotes a more dominant role for private interests.
What I am pointing out is that in many aspects state power impacts the wealth security and well being of people everywhere and is hugely important in determining the wealth and welfare of people everywhere- for example- in Gaza...where there is effectively almost no legitimate state power (the PA is a toothless authority over ridden by Israeli military occupation itself in defiance of international law but possible because USA supports Israel) and people suffer as a direct result.
I'm not interested in trying to explain my beliefs to you again, because I've done so many times and it has not altered your mischaracterizations one bit.
Since I'm effectively talking to a brick wall, I'm going to spare myself the effort and aggravation. You're welcome to revisit our early discussions. I said what I wanted to say there.
Again you fail to refute or even acknowledge the points raised but fall back on attacking the messenger...since your gaslighting failed.
You are incapable of sequential logical reasoned debate because your ideology is wishful thinking nonsense.
using Gaza as an example of libertarian failure is quite something
I am not doing that.
Again you misrepresent what I wrote.
Avoiding the issue, desperately, again.
Lazy and dishonest argument because you cannot engage in good faith and with honesty because your ideology is so twisted and flawed.
You both desperately evade the point I was making...because you cannot refute it.
That government and its ability to protect and advance its peoples interests is fucking important to the comfort, wealth and well being of all people and that Libertarians are a bunch of Icelandic-1st world-mostly US petrodollar empire citizens - welfare recipient hypocrites.
