I've really been enjoying these Vinteum Deep Dives (#1560888 #1584549) where they get together for a week or a few days and try to understand some topic in Bitcoin from the origins to cutting edge. This one is about layer 2s:
Designing ways to update claims offchain while preserving a path to enforce them through the blockchain is one of the most interesting problems in Bitcoin protocol design.
I found their description of the various L2s accessible and well-researched. And I appreciated the breadth of their survey, looking in depth at:
- Eltoo
- Coinpool
- Channel Factories
- Ark (arkade and bark)
- Statechains (Spark and Mercury Layer)
If you'd like a reasonably short, beginner-to-moderate level summary of the many and varied ways people might share bitcoin utxos, this article is worth a read.
