Yes, it's really the only way Bitcoin can attract the common folk. On chain BTC isn't instantly confirmed, costs money that varies significantly to transact, ect. Why would any of the common folk wanna switch away from paying with a debit card or PayPal, ect, when those payment methods are instant, fee free, and it's what they're used to.
