IIRC they didn't have them before because most other wallets don't recognize them but making it opt-in seems like it fixes that issue.

I took muun to my el salvador trip, then went to tip someone but it kept saying I couldn't send to a lightning address that didn't include an amount. I didn't want to tell the other person how much to ask for, since I was tipping them (I wanted to put the amount myself from my end). Wouldn't let me.
Installed phoenix and never looked back.

yes, you open a big channel on phoenix, when the channel is almost depleted, you can send a one big lightning transaction from muun to phoenix to refill the channel
