US dollars are being used to exercise sanctions. Sanctions are limitations on access to payments and one's "own money", when, where, and what you can spend it on.

You cannot spend it where we say you can't or on what we say you can't, can punish you for not spending it, can freeze it because of an opinion you expressed.
That's the deal for USD users, basically, on a national level, on a global scale.

The Dollar already is and has for some time been artfully used to exert political power, and this is a trend that relates to it's colonialist underpinnings.
Maybe some places will fall for it longer than others but like all socialist systems it will fail because it doesn't allow people to do the economic calculation that enables a productive and prosperous society.
The logic of skipping to the end to stick with a money that exists in spite of immense efforts to destroy its essential properties, is indubitable.
If politics has too much to do with the money it stops being money, and people start to look for alternatives.
They will eventually come to recognise it.
