Are their theories why these sort of stories get missed/ignored? Or is it just that these places are run by small teams and budgets with people who really only follow bitcoin as a part of their job?

The teams are small, but some of those stories are BIG. Some of those publications cover everything Coinbase does, for example. How could they ignore the Lightning Network integration? It's baffling. And suspicious.
