Here's an even simpler idea than Lightning over Liquid:
  • Run a submarine swap service between Liquid and Lightning (usual, not over Liquid). The code is already there.
  • Add lightning payments via submarine swap to a Liquid wallet such as Sideswap
Thus high fees are totally avoided and Muun users get their simple interface.
You mean Muun should replace its onchain usage with Liquid?
One of the nice things about muun though is I can take the seed and spend the bitcoin in any bitcoin wallet ... users owning bitcoin on liquid is not exactly equivalent to owning bitcoin.
reply
No, I meant that a pure Liquid wallet such as Sideswap if augmented with submarine swap support would be as easy and versatile as Muun. Sideswap doesn't pretend that Liquid Bitcoin is the same as normal Bitcoin.
reply
I see. You mean turn Sideswap into a Muun-like wallet.
reply
Exactly.

Seems legit. All L2 all the time. It's basically Fedi at that point lol.
reply
Yeah, Fedi is kinda just that but also an operating system, a cloud, a social media platform, a job market, a dating site and a network state. (I don't expect them to release in 2023.)
