Congrats to @wumbo for winning round 1 and @undisciplined for winning round 2.
Time for the conference finals. Since there are only 4 teams left, this round you will pick winners and number of games the series goes (ex. Celtics in 6).
Here are the matchups:
Eastern Conference Final Miami Heat v.s Boston Celtics
Western Conference Final Los Angeles Lakers v.s Denver Nuggets
Respondent with the most correct wins 1000 sats. If there is a tie, 1000 sats goes to person who responded first and 100 sats to everyone else that tied for the most correct. I will accept submissions up until Tuesday May 16 at 8pm est.
Good Luck!

Congrats you are the winner. Heat, 7, and Nuggets all correct. Impressive.
reply
Thank you! I was just lucky, last night’s Heat was impressive.

Yes all things considered with Celtics coming back from down 3-0 and playing at home, I thought it was a long shot Heat would win last night but I was impressed with the way Spoelstra responded after the heartbreaking game 6 loss simply saying "I don't know how were going to get this done, but we're going to go up there and get it done".
reply
I couldn’t believe Celtics would come back and force a game 7 after being down 3-0. Then with all the momentum riding on their side, proceeded to lose, at home, in such a landslide.
It’s as if what I said on May 15th was playing out in real time last night when I watched the game. Made me feel like the NBA prophet for a minute there lol.
Jimmy and gang will silence the Garden and destroy them on their home court. Bill will continue to cry on his little podcast, crying with the Celtics who will miss yet another shot at the championship.

Yes you were incredibly prescient, or lucky. Haha. I have never heard Simmons podcast but I assume he is a celtics guy. Personally, I was cheering for the heat. I am a Lowry fan (used to live in Toronto and follow the Raptors closely) and besides that what a great story for an 8 seed to take out 1,2,3 on the conference and make it to finals to play another 1 seed. I like the Nuggets but I think I will pull for the Heat in finals so they can finish off this historic run as an 8 seed.
reply
It would be a great sports story indeed if the Heat can get it done in the finals. I’m also cheering for the Heat in the finals, because I really like Jimmy Butler. But I pick the Nuggets to win because they seem too well coached and too talented for the Heat to handle. I hope the Heat proves me wrong.
Either way, this should be a great series.

Bill Simmons might not survive the Heat winning in the Garden.

Celtics in 7 Lakers in 5 then I predict a 7 game series between LA & Boston which is anyone's guess who wins

Bold. Number 8 vs number 7 in final would definitely be historic.

I know, I got the first shot and I went super improbable. If you hadn't made me think about the series length, I would have gone the other way, but the more I thought about how the series would flow the better the underdogs seemed.
Spoelstra's got a huge coaching advantage and the tougher, better rested team.
Lebron and AD are big, smart, athletic defenders, which we haven't seen Jokic have to deal with yet. However, I was really leaning towards Nuggets in 7.
reply
I like the logic. I would be surprised if heat beat the celtics but I could see the Lakers giving the Nuggets a tough series.
reply
The other thing is that I think the favorites are likely to win in 5 or 7, but the underdogs pretty much have to win in 6.
