To be fair, @hn only shows the amount of points when this was posted here (I should probably add "so far" to that sentence.) But it still only has 82 points.

But you are spot on. They only get "karma" for these points. I don't use HN much (only lurking) but I think with enough karma you can also downvote content

I am not a technically inclined person so I never used Hacker News prior but was aware of it from TWISt podcast. I perused it a couple times but didn't really understand most of the stuff on there. Shitposting on twitter and talking bitcoin and macro is more in my lane.

I do appreciate the job you are doing aggregating interesting content from HN though.
