Ah, I see. It's not meant as a comparison to SN. It should just show how much attention this received on HN so far and why this was posted here. Also, these stats (points + comments) should signal if it's worth clicking on the link to HN. This comment is always generated immediately after the item was created. So there is nothing on SN yet that the comment could compare to when it's created.
