A simple case for Bitcoin maximalism
-You want to fix the money.
-After years of study you have reached the conclusion that Bitcoin is the best option (better than gold, political reform, etc..)
-You think that this is very important and will have a very positive impact on the world.
-You see “crypto” as a distraction at best, a scam at worst.
-You see Bitcoin exchanges falling to the temptations of becoming shitcoin casinos, abusing leverage, fractional reserve... for short-term profit.
-You have seen this cycle repeat multiple times in 2013, 2017, 2021.
-->Therefore you warn people to self-custody and avoid chasing the latest bubble, stay humble and stack sats.
Maybe I'm giving too much weight to "maximalism" but I've never liked calling myself a bitcoin maximalist. I think bitcoin is the best store of value and currency out there. I think bitcoin is the best way to have freedom and for "political reform" (if that's your thing). However If something better comes around tomorrow (highly doubt it) I would use that, I'm not married to bitcoin, it's just a tool.
I also think smart contracts replacing government backed contracts are a good thing, but an L2, or maybe even bitcoin script could do that? So far there is a lot more smart contracts in other cryptos, but there is a lot of bad in other cryptos too.
