Open source models are catching up very quickly. Falcon 40B is completely open sourced and can be used for commercial purposes. The instruction tuned version is supposed to be nearly on par with ChatGPT, and you can run it on a cloud GPU quite cheaply. I don't think ClosedAI can be competitive long term. Who the hell is going to trust them with any business-critical data?
