I used to talk a lot about it, but now as we approach a potential recession or depression, I'm a bit hesitant. I haven't convinced more than a handful of people anyway, and if the economy crashes I don't want to be known as the guy who has strong currency...
What do y'all think?
The Bitcoin Paradox how to publicly push adoption but retain privacy. I wrestle with this myself. It is one of the reasons I stopped posting my weekly stacking updates.

Treason is a [only] matter of dates.

Yes, I would say so. In a phase of a downturn people with high time preference will sell you out to get a quick bounty or to find a scapegoat.
Keep the ball low and only selectively reveal yourself in a group of people e.g. family in which a quick buck would be a large trade-off.
Public people in bitcoin require a different and extra plan to protect themselves.
But hyperbitcoinization will happen anyway.
reply
Yes, hyperbitcoinization will happen. I just want me and mine to survive the shitty dystopian western that might be on the path to it.
reply
Yes, same case for me. But i can't let those fall becoz of fiat disaster, So i started running pages/channels with Pet name/ surogate name to do posting and educating... 🟠🟣⚡️📖🫡 🐐

Only orange pill people that you consider close friends or family.
Those are the people who will likely not steal from you. Otherwise just keep it to yourself if you are foreseeing issues of trust.

Wear a Skull 💀 of satoshi t-Shirt.
reply
Welll... do you orange-pill people exposing explicitly that you own a strong currency?
I believe its depends on the way (how) you do it more that the what (you orange pilling others)

I usually wonder this about monero, how do you tell people about this anonymous currency used by the darknet markets without sounding suspicious?

My strategy: Keep your head low and stack sats while they're cheap. People will discover Bitcoin in their own time, just like I did. Late, but it's never too late. No need to try to speed it up while compromising my own security.
reply
Simple: "Just because I talk about it online does NOT mean I have any."
reply
Well, that is somehow illogical. That means you are telling people something that you are not convinced of. That is like lying.

I find wearing bitcoin shirts is a cool and subtle way to put that thought into their minds. A “touchpoint” per se. Not worried about strangers shanking me thinking they’re gonna get away with massive bitcoin bags. This is in a bear market, i might tame it down during the bull.

I saw a tweet thread recently (which I can't find) which was something about "what is a good money to save in?"
I might try this approach fr now on. That way you're talking more about fundamentals (scarce, decentralized, immutable etc) so they can get closer to understanding bitcoin & you don't sound like a salesman

Saylor's retarded, terrible idea. My newsletter actually explains the energy stuff correctly, but on the fiat standard, being a billionaire makes someone more correct. Sounds like you are still living in a fiat proof of stake world at heart.
reply
"Saylor's retarded" is one hell of an assertion. But, I am pretty open-minded - which of his ideas do you think earns him that particular label, and why?

I called an old man a luddite for being a luddite. Stop using any electronic devices, stop using bitcoin, and go live in a cave if you want to eliminate tracking. RFK would have spread FUD about electricity 100 years ago 😂

I got annoyed at some toxicity last week. Try to look at the bright side: it's a very small price to pay for freedom of expression, which SN seems to be respectful of.
