Thanks for playing all :)

Thanks for this fun/addictive website. I'll blame you when I lost my whole stack though~~

I won but no sats were transferred to my address

Indeed was paid, thanks for the fun site!

reply

I think more people would play if you don't have to commit 10k at once

And I thought first that the timer would not reset after you paid. So it would be hilarious to a lot of people trying to pay at the last second lol

reply

Why... oh why did you have to play... I don't want to skip lunch... :)

reply

Huh, someone else joined but the payout was reset to 10k. Should be 30k now, no?

reply

I think so... probably the payout arrived too late? I got the message I won only to get a message couple of seconds right after saying someone else joined.

reply

lol, for me it still showed 15 seconds

reply

That's not a good look. Hope the dev will figure this out. I saw you sent a message in the group chat. Let me send your 10k sats back over your Stacker News address.

reply

Hmm, refreshing? Sometimes the timer gets out of sync if the tab isn't in the foreground.

reply

Thanks for sending back the sats even though it wasn't your fault, haha

I was ready to lose these 10k sats

Let's split

reply

Haha, thanks. Sending sats back and forth, effortless, so much fun.

Oh, I noticed a similar problem just now. I have two tabs open with this webpage, timers were not in sync until i refreshed one of the tabs.

reply

Hmmm... Sometimes the timer gets out of sync if a bid is detected while the tab isn't in the foreground.

Refresh when you reopen the tab to be safe.

reply

By message I mean pop up message on my screen.

reply

That was me, I think. Exactly as @ekzyis said, I thought the timer wouldn't reset, so tried to snipe the pot late on.

reply

Yeah, I thought so too the first time... I think the fun factor could be increased while keeping the spending/time factor down.

reply

Yes, make it cheap and quick :) But the code is open source so anyone could do it

reply

Im wary of things like this for 2 reasons:

  1. not open source
  2. Easily fixable to have your own bot pay something at the last second.

Not saying you would, but its something I wouldnt use.

reply
  1. Looks FOSS to me (https://github.com/alexlwn123/lastpaywins).
  2. Correct. I also would not play this with anything else than limited play money. Anything where money is involved, people will have incentive to game the system.
reply

Well of course it looks FOSS to you, you created it and know the link lol. I couldnt see anything on the website (but I only scanned).

I see it won at a hackathon. Congrats

reply

I did not create it. I just posted it here after someone else here told me about it the other day. I saw it was FOSS from the message at the bottom of the page on https://www.lastpaywins.com/. I did spend too much time on this website today though, having noticed this detail.

The dev @alex_lewin is at the top of the comments here.

Cool idea for a website

reply

Just tried it out now with 10K sats...but I think unless I camp out all day @south_korea_ln will always take it...Great idea though!

reply

Was about to go for lunch, so thank you for keeping it short. I probably should stop playing anyhow. As @ryu said below, this is the worst kind of gamble.

reply

Developer told me the highest the jackpot ever went was 1.4M sats. I'm ready to break that record... are you?

reply

God no, lmao.
If I was rich, maybe.

Enjoy the 60K sats, fren.

reply

Thanks. Sent you a couple of sats to your SN address to compensate for the loss...

reply

The worst kind of gamble, but fun if you're the only one.

Then you only lose a small bit of your money.

reply

Play responsibly, set a budget beforehand.
