Not really because the lightning network is not a global state. It is a network. So as long as your network has it implemented, YOU are doing just fine and don't have to care or worry much about everyone else. 

Now, if all implementations did add it, it would be nice sure, but not a requirement

So, ping me as soon as 1 implementation adds it and I'll play around with it.
