Cool, yes this is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Anything that enables decentralized moderation. 

Incentives.

Rather than have users sacrifice sats to downvote, have the poster stake sats with every post. If the post is not marked as spam within X days, they get the staked sats back.

Sphinx uses this concept, seems to work well.

We will eventually need mods, although I hope to enable anyone willing to sacrifice sats to "moderate" effectively - like you can downvote posts etc if for like 5 sats. Open to more ideas around this.

I need to write a manifesto on how to be a great 

 so we can all figure out how to best build the site. After I sprint out the next set of features, this will probably be what I do and I'll be looking for insights in dang's writing from years of moderating HN
