I'm looking for an alternative to gist.github.com (which is great).

What does everyone else like to use?

A friend of mine has a self hosted gitlab. That's pretty neat.

Out of interest, is there a reason why you are looking for an alternative to gist?

reply

I'd like an alternative to share stuff without linking to my github.

A sensible requirement. I’ve used this a few times https://zerobin.net/

I actually don't really use gist.

I usually just screenshot if I'm just showing something off. If I expect them to run it, I just send them the file.
