I was asked by a client - out of the blue - what I thought about Bitcoin following Tesla purchasing some and with the very precise caveat; ‘ I am not a financial advisor and I am not giving financial advice’ we talked through what Bitcoin was, it’s potential as a monetary system, why it works the way it does and why DCA is the safest way to invest. They are clearly thinking about it for a few weeks and then say ‘I just bought a Bitcoin and x,y.z coins!’ I gently remind him that BTC is a long term hold in my book and other coins are gambles.
Market top fast approaches and they say ‘I bought another coin and a,b,c coins’. We talk about cold storage and a minimum 4 year BTC hold in the event of a market crash.
Market crashes. Sells all other coins at a loss and buys Bitcoin. Does hold onto his Bitcoin though. Partner is livid threatens divorce.
Fast forward a month, my invoice goes unpaid and I am effectively fired. So yeah, I got into trouble mentioning Bitcoin….
Ah... the joys of holding BTC long-term through a crash when a partner is not on-board :)

Seems like this story is the one that resonated most on SN. Enjoy the 10k sats. Maybe gift some to your client for divorce proceedings ;)

Wow. Thank you. I may wait till after any (probably lengthy) resolution though as he may need them then …. and I guess the ex-wife could be a whole coiner if she takes half of what he has :(
