that site is a bit of a pain to access (complex captcha process) but it's essentially some kind of stackoverflow, there's a single post with no meaningful comments, and this is the content (there are no verifiable links, it's just a wall of text)

1.5 million Android users targeted by Chinease spyware

2 file management apps on Google play store have turned out to be spyware, putting the privacy and security of up to 1.5 million Android users at risk.

The apps: File Recovery and Data Recovery 1mill & File Manager 500k

Predeo a mobile security firm discovered that various personal information is collected without the users knowledge. Including contact lists, media files, real-time location, mobile country code, network provider details, SIM provider network code, operating system version, device brand, and model.

Once collected the data is sent to multiple servers in China.

Worth noting that the downloads have apparently been inflated to appear more trustworthy.

I feel like Im reading more and more about security issues affecting Android devices distributed through the Google play store.

Not just the signing process, logging in takes 2-3 tries due to their annoying captcha, then again for DDOS prevention the loading speed is way too slow. They are somewhere right with these since the devastating amount of DDOSes they receive 🤣

When asked, one of admins replied something related to PoW, saying when that is done, it will be running at lightning speed. Here is the convo:

User: "The speed of loading in dread needs a very massive improvement, most people are not going to wait so long just to access a post. More innovations are required without compromising the danger of DDOS. Rest I think most people won't give a F about this new API since it is mainly going to hurt developers which if compared are way to low in proportion to content consumers. Just a matter of fact for people to adjust to bad Reddit's UI."

Dread Admin: "Site speed is completely out of our control while under DoS attack, we're at peak innovation with even being accessible during attacks. Once PoW is widespread on the network the site will be running at lightning speed."
